Google AdWords click arbitrage
I have been contacted a few times over the last week about the new Google AdWords algorithim update to assess the quality of landing pages. One of the main objectives from this change is to put an end to click arbitrage from low quality affiliate and MFA (made for AdSense) websites who make a quick profit by buying cheap traffic from Google AdWords with the sole purpose of earning a higher amount of money through affiliate sales or Google AdSense clicks. The algorithm update means that poor quality landing pages will have reduced quality scores, resulting in a higher cost per click, making it more difficult for these sites to buy cost-effective traffic.
Many non-MFA websites have also experienced early problems from the change receiving an increase in minimum bids. But by ensuring the content of landing pages is relevant and of high quality these difficulties should be overcome. I believe this will be an excellent addition to the AdWords quality score ranking, helping to improve the quality of the users experience by filtering out poor websites from the AdWords results.
