How to Use Google News & Google Trends to Drive Traffic

Filed under: seoPatrick Altoft @ 5:39 pm

Google Trends is a hugely valuable resource to see what people are searching for right now on Google.

Combine Google Trends with the fact Google pulls news results and blog results right into the search results pages and it is possible to leverage a huge amount of traffic with very little effort.

If you are listed in Google News then simply watch for hot items on Google Trends, write about them and watch your traffic shoot up.

Check out the result below for Brooke Astor which peaked 19 hours ago. Although there are 265 news articles now there were probably only a handful when the search volume peaked.

Judging by the number of people who go straight to Google when they want to read about breaking news we can expect a lot more news integration as well as quick indexing and ranking of topical content in future.
